Yucca Garden

Yucca Garden is a family run Tex-Mex restaurant which opened it doors in November 2018 and recently got a new refurb!

You can find it on Camberwell Church Street, where you can expect a warm welcome and some seriously tasty Mexican food and amazing cocktails. With a newly designed interior and some award-winning food, this is a place to check out, if you haven’t already.

Founder, Mete, has worked in the industry for 15 years, 13 years of which he managed a restaurant at the Dorchester in Mayfair. Drawn to green Camberwell by the friendly vibes and community atmosphere, Mete is bringing his experience to SE5. And food lovers might be happy to know that the head chef Fernando Catanho of Venezuela thought the same and brings 20 years of kitchen management in hotels and restaurants across Europe to Yucca Gardens too.

We went in and chatted to Mete to find out more.

What brought you to Camberwell?

I lived in Camberwell in 2004 for few years and never disconnected from my friends and the community since I moved out. When I decided to work for myself, I thought it would be amazing to come back where I feel at home.

What is your favourite memory of your career?

My favourite memories are meeting and serving my favourite actors, musicians and being able to talk to the people who are on top of Forbes list who are really inspiring.

What is your favourite dish on the menu?

My favourite dish of all of them...that’s a hard one The first thing that comes to my mind is steak fajita and after that probably the burrito.

Yucca Garden has some high expectations for itself, with its sister restaurant in Fulham ranked as the number 1 Mexican restaurant in London on Trip Advisor, Yucca Garden intends to meet them at the top too. So, head in a try their signature dishes: burritos, fajitas, BBQ or the new Tacos they have added to the menu, with some margaritas or pisco sours!

Head for a nice meal out: 20 Camberwell Church Street SE5 8QU

Or get it to your sofa through Deliveroo or UberEats.
