New local parenting groups for parents of 2-11 year olds - Being a Parent-Enjoying Family Life

South London and Maudsley NHS Trust have created a new peer-led parenting group, Being a Parent- Enjoying Family Life, being run by King’s College London and the Empowering Parents Empowering Communities team at SLaM NHS trust.

Check out the project's website here.

The project aims to improve support for parents and caregivers who:

  • Experience emotional and/or relationship difficulties and may be struggling with their emotional wellbeing.

  • Are worried about their child’s (aged 2-11 years) behaviour.

  • Live in Southwark, Lambeth, Croydon and Lewisham.

To do this, SLaM NHS trust are conducting a research study comparing a new parenting group Being a Parent-Enjoying Family Life to a well-established parenting group, Being a Parent.

They are looking to recruit 34 parents for in person (at Hitherfield and Rye Oak Children’s Centre) and online groups starting w/c 2nd May. Groups will be run over 9-10 weeks for ~2 hours and cover topics such as managing stress, positive parenting, play and communication.

Check out this video to learn more about the project.
